PayPal integration

Connects PayPal webhooks and the transactions API to invoicing and the shop, so captures, refunds and disputes are always recorded.

Overview

PayPal

PayPal is still the go-to option for many foreign buyers, especially from the UK, Germany or the US. For the seller, getting paid is rarely the issue; recording everything correctly on the Portuguese side is.

Tejobit connects the PayPal Orders API and webhooks to the company's own system. When a capture completes, the order moves on and the invoicing program issues the document. A refund produces a credit note. A buyer dispute reaches someone the same day.

At month end, the connection uses transaction search to match the PayPal balance against issued invoices, fees included.

Use cases

What it is for

  • A craft maker or niche shop selling abroad through PayPal that needs certified invoices
  • A surf school or tour operator taking bookings from foreign visitors by PayPal
  • A WooCommerce shop with PayPal at checkout whose sales must reconcile with the books
  • A digital creator selling downloads who wants product delivery and invoice handled automatically
IN

What the connection listens to

  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED once funds are captured
  • CHECKOUT.ORDER.APPROVED in custom checkout flows
  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.REFUNDED and PAYMENT.CAPTURE.REVERSED
  • CUSTOMER.DISPUTE.CREATED when a buyer opens a case
  • Scheduled transaction search for reconciliation
OUT

What the connection does

  • Capture approved orders through the Orders API
  • Issue an invoice or credit note in the invoicing program
  • Update order status in the shop or back-office
  • Record fees and net amounts for bookkeeping
  • Alert the team to disputes with the response deadline

How it works

From the request to a working connection

  1. 01

    Request

The form names the integration, the tools involved and what should happen in each case.

  2. 02

    Review and proposal

Tejobit confirms what the API allows and sends a proposal with the flow, the price and the timeline.

  3. 03

    Setup and testing

The connection is set up with the business's own accounts and tested with real cases before it goes live.

  4. 04

    Maintenance and monitoring

Tejobit hosts the connection, follows up on errors and adapts it when the API changes.

The connection runs on Tejobit's infrastructure. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring and API changes.

What to prepare

  • A PayPal Business account and a REST app created in PayPal Developer
  • The app's client ID and secret, plus a webhook registered for the needed events
  • Invoicing rules for foreign customers and for final consumers
  • Access to the shop and the invoicing program

For security, do not send passwords, API keys or tokens through the form. Credentials are requested through a secure channel when the setup starts.

Limits

  • Transaction search lags by a few hours and returns at most 31 days per request
  • eCheck payments or payments held for review can take days to complete
  • PayPal does not issue invoices certified by the Portuguese Tax Authority; the invoicing program does

Frequently asked questions

Before you start

Are PayPal fees recorded?

Yes. Each transaction carries the gross amount, the fee and the net. The connection stores all three, so the books show the fee as a cost separate from the sale.

I sell outside the EU. Does the invoice change?

The connection passes the customer's country and details to the invoicing program, and the VAT rule applied is whatever that program has configured for exports and intra-EU sales.

How long do I have to answer a dispute?

PayPal sets a deadline per case. The connection sends the alert with the due date as soon as the dispute opens, so it is not missed.
