Payments
SIBS and MB WAY integration
Takes MB WAY, Multibanco and card payments straight through the SIBS Gateway, with webhooks and statuses verified.
Overview
SIBS e MB WAY
SIBS runs the Multibanco network and MB WAY, and the SIBS Gateway lets a merchant accept those methods directly, through its acquiring bank, without an aggregator in between.
Integrating the SIBS Gateway takes more care than an aggregator: notifications arrive encrypted, must be decrypted with the webhook secret and acknowledged in the expected format, or SIBS keeps retrying. Tejobit handles that layer and checks the final status through the status API before treating a sale as paid.
It suits businesses with volume that have negotiated rates with their bank, or that want MB WAY built into their own checkout, app or self-service kiosk.
Use cases
What it is for
- A restaurant group taking online orders paid by MB WAY on its own site
- A shop large enough to negotiate fees directly with its bank
- A transport or parking operator selling tickets in its own app
- A services company sending payment links with MB WAY, Multibanco and cards
What the connection listens to
- SIBS Gateway webhooks for MB WAY payments, generated references and paid references
- Capture events for two-step card payments
- A new order or invoice in the source system
What the connection does
- Create the SIBS Gateway checkout with the methods enabled on the account
- Send an MB WAY request to the customer's phone number
- Generate Multibanco references with a due date
- Decrypt and acknowledge notifications, then confirm status through the API
- Mark the sale as paid and ask the certified program for the invoice
How it works
From the request to a working connection
- 01
Request
The form names the integration, the tools involved and what should happen in each case.
- 02
Review and proposal
Tejobit confirms what the API allows and sends a proposal with the flow, the price and the timeline.
- 03
Setup and testing
The connection is set up with the business's own accounts and tested with real cases before it goes live.
- 04
Maintenance and monitoring
Tejobit hosts the connection, follows up on errors and adapts it when the API changes.
The connection runs on Tejobit's infrastructure. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring and API changes.
What to prepare
- An acquiring agreement with a bank and SIBS Gateway access (terminal credentials and token)
- The webhook secret and notification URL set in the SIBS backoffice
- The active payment methods and the expiry rules for references
- Access to the site, app or back-office where the charge starts
For security, do not send passwords, API keys or tokens through the form. Credentials are requested through a secure channel when the setup starts.
Limits
- SIBS Gateway access goes through the bank and can take a few weeks to switch on
- There is a separate test environment, and going live requires validation
- SIBS processes payments; invoices and Tax Authority reporting stay with the certified software
Frequently asked questions
Before you start
Why the SIBS Gateway instead of an aggregator?
At high volume, rates negotiated with the bank usually win, and funds settle through the bank. For smaller volumes an aggregator such as IfthenPay is often simpler.
Can SIBS notifications be trusted?
They arrive encrypted with AES-GCM and can only be read with the account's secret. Even so, the connection confirms the status through the API before changing an order, as SIBS recommends.
Does it handle payment links too?
Yes. The connection creates the payment request, sends the link to the customer by email or SMS and tracks it until it completes.
