Mailchimp integration

Online shops running email on Mailchimp: customers, purchases and consent kept in sync with the audience.

Overview

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is an email marketing platform built on audiences, merge fields, tags, segments and automations. It also has an e-commerce API that stores shops, products and orders, used for product recommendations and abandoned cart emails.

Tejobit connects Mailchimp to the shop and the CRM. When an order is paid in WooCommerce or Shopify, the connection updates the audience member, adds tags (category bought, first order, repeat buyer) and pushes the order to the Mailchimp store. Mailchimp webhooks report back when someone unsubscribes or changes email, so the CRM and the shop honour that choice.

Use cases

What it is for

  • A WooCommerce cosmetics shop sending a welcome series only to first-time buyers.
  • A Shopify wine brand segmenting campaigns by the regions customers have already bought from.
  • An online bookshop recovering abandoned carts with the actual products left behind.
  • A company using HubSpot as its CRM that needs to see Mailchimp unsubscribes there.
  • A shop pruning bounced addresses from its audience to keep its Mailchimp bill in check.
IN

What the connection listens to

  • Paid orders, new customers and marketing consent coming from the shop.
  • Mailchimp webhooks for subscribes, unsubscribes, profile updates, email changes and cleaned addresses.
  • Contact changes in HubSpot when the CRM is the main source.
OUT

What the connection does

  • Creates or updates audience members with merge fields and tags.
  • Sends customers, products and orders to the Mailchimp e-commerce store.
  • Flags unsubscribed contacts in the CRM and shop so they are not added back.
  • Archives inactive contacts according to agreed rules.

How it works

From the request to a working connection

  1. 01

    Request

The form names the integration, the tools involved and what should happen in each case.

  2. 02

    Review and proposal

Tejobit confirms what the API allows and sends a proposal with the flow, the price and the timeline.

  3. 03

    Setup and testing

The connection is set up with the business's own accounts and tested with real cases before it goes live.

  4. 04

    Maintenance and monitoring

Tejobit hosts the connection, follows up on errors and adapts it when the API changes.

The connection runs on Tejobit's infrastructure. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring and API changes.

What to prepare

  • A Mailchimp account with an API key or OAuth approval.
  • A defined audience with agreed merge fields and tags.
  • A marketing consent checkbox at checkout.
  • Admin access to the shop (WooCommerce or Shopify) and, if used, HubSpot.

For security, do not send passwords, API keys or tokens through the form. Credentials are requested through a secure channel when the setup starts.

Limits

  • The Mailchimp API caps simultaneous connections per account, so big imports run as batch operations.
  • An unsubscribed contact cannot simply be resubscribed through the API; they have to opt in again.
  • Transactional emails such as order confirmations are a separate Mailchimp product and outside this connection.

Frequently asked questions

Before you start

Why not use the shop's official connector?

Official connectors cover the basic case well. This connection is for custom tagging rules, a CRM in the middle, or several shops sharing one audience.

Do customers without consent go to Mailchimp?

Either not at all or only as transactional contacts, depending on the account. Anyone without consent never receives campaigns.

Will this raise the Mailchimp bill?

Mailchimp charges by audience size. The connection can archive inactive contacts to keep the account in the right tier.
