Slack integration
Sales, payment and error notifications in the right Slack channel, with buttons to approve and commands to look things up.
Overview
Slack
When a team already lives in Slack, the worst part is opening five dashboards to find out whether a sale came in, a payment failed or a booking is due tomorrow. The information exists; it just never reaches the people who need it.
Tejobit builds a company Slack app that posts Block Kit messages to the right place: #sales gets deals won, #finance gets failed payments, #ops gets tomorrow's bookings. Messages can carry buttons such as approve discount or issue invoice, and the click goes back to the connection, which runs the action in the right system and updates the message.
Data can also be pulled on demand with a command, such as /customer followed by a name, to see the balance and latest invoices without leaving Slack.
Use cases
What it is for
- A startup or agency announcing every deal won in HubSpot or Pipedrive in the sales channel.
- A finance channel alert when a Stripe payment fails or a subscription is cancelled.
- Discount or refund approvals with one button, with a record of who approved.
- A daily bookings summary for the operations team at a rental or tour company.
- A command to check the status of an order or a customer.
What the connection listens to
- Events in other systems: deal won, payment failed, new booking, sync error.
- Clicks on message buttons and menus (Slack interactivity).
- Slash commands and app mentions, received through the Events API.
What the connection does
- Post Block Kit messages to public or private channels, or as direct messages.
- Update the original message after approval, showing who approved it.
- Run the approved action in the source system, such as issuing the invoice or applying the refund.
- Answer commands with data from invoicing, the CRM or bookings.
How it works
From the request to a working connection
- 01
Request
The form names the integration, the tools involved and what should happen in each case.
- 02
Review and proposal
Tejobit confirms what the API allows and sends a proposal with the flow, the price and the timeline.
- 03
Setup and testing
The connection is set up with the business's own accounts and tested with real cases before it goes live.
- 04
Maintenance and monitoring
Tejobit hosts the connection, follows up on errors and adapts it when the API changes.
The connection runs on Tejobit's infrastructure. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring and API changes.
What to prepare
- A Slack workspace and an admin to install the app.
- The target channels created, with the app invited to private ones.
- The rules for each alert: what fires it, where it goes and who can approve.
For security, do not send passwords, API keys or tokens through the form. Credentials are requested through a secure channel when the setup starts.
Limits
- Slack limits posting to roughly one message per second per channel, so event bursts are rolled into a summary.
- Slack's free plan limits visible history, so Slack should not be the only record of approvals; the connection keeps that log elsewhere.
- Buttons need a reply from the connection within a few seconds, so slow actions show an in-progress state first.
Frequently asked questions
Before you start
Will the app be listed in the Slack Marketplace?
No. It is an internal app installed only in your workspace and invisible to anyone else.
Can I restrict who approves requests?
Yes. The connection checks who clicked and only accepts approvals from named users. Others can see the message but get a notice if they try.
What if the channel fills up with noise?
Alerts can be batched by period, filtered by amount or posted in threads. The aim is that every message earns attention.
